About the Perspektivet Museum in Tromsø

The Perspektivet Museum is split over three sites: Storgata 95, Perspektivet Folkeparken, and Perspektivet Straumen Farm. Storgata 95 is the main building, but all sites can be visited year-round.

It offers two exhibitions on Cora Sandel/Sara Fabricius, a famous author and painter who once lived here. These two exhibitions are ‘Sara and Freedom’ and ‘Traces of Sara’.

Temporary exhibitions are held at The Perspektivet Museum too, such as ‘New Standards’ which runs through January 2025.

Opening Hours

The Perspektivet Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday.

Opening hours are as follows: Tuesday to Friday (10 am – 4 pm) and Saturday to Sunday (11 am – 5 pm). The museum is closed on Mondays.

Ticket Prices

Adult tickets cost 80 NOK (around $7.40) while children under 18 are free. Students also have free entry and senior tickets cost 50 NOK (around $4.60).

An annual pass for the Perspektivet Museum costs 250 NOK (around $23).

Alternatively, you can opt for a Tromsø culture pass. It includes entrance to various attractions such as the Perspektivet Museum and Polar Museum.

To pick up a Tromsø pass – you can head to the tourism office at Storgata 83 or the one at Prostneset Harbour Terminal at Samuel Arnesens gate 5.

The Perspektivet Museum is located at Storgata 95, next to Verdensteateret Cinema. It’s in a listed building that dates back to 1838.

The two other museum locations are Perspektivet Folkeparken and Perspektivet Straumen Farm.

Best Time to Visit

Although temporary exhibitions may change, the Perspektivet Museum is a great place to visit at any time of year.

Those heading to Perspektivet Folkeparken (one of the museum’s other sites) should try to visit during the summer (June to August).

These include New Year’s Day, Good Friday, May 1st, May 17th, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.
